Google Classroom codes will be distributed during class the first week of school.

Grading Categories (& Goals):

10% Homework
30% Formative Assessments (assignments in this category can usually be redone to improve the grade)
60% Summative Assessments

My goal is to have at least 4 grades in each grading category at the end of term.

What to Bring:

Device, charged & ready
Paper and pen/pencil (yes, sometimes you’ll need it)
A book
Most Importantly:
- Your brain
- A positive, collaborative attitude

Grading Expectations:

You can expect that I will:

Update grades at least once weekly.
Alert student (and parent) when a student:
- Currently has a D/F in class
- Is missing more than 3 assignments in any category (not due to absence)
TRY to keep turn-around time for large assignments to no more than seven school days.

You should expect to be responsible for:

Checking Google Classroom & this website when you’re absent
Seeing me directly/scheduling a one-on-one during class if you don’t understand a grade or need help with something.
Your own achievement - formative assignments are redoable, but that’s on you.

Classroom Norms:

Much of the work we’ll be doing in class will be student-paced with an end-goal, with the teacher personalizing instruction as much as possible.

This means students need to be aware of their own timing, and ask questions (and schedule one-on-one time) when they need it.

We always follow HAWKS SOAR and we recognize that every voice has value and deserves respect.

We work together to better each other and ourselves, learning and teaching alongside our teacher, our classmates, and others.

Plagiarism:

We will follow the FCPS plagiarism policy. Upon the first offense, students will meet with the guidance department and have an opportunity to redo the assignment. The UMS late policy will be followed. Subsequent offenses will be handled by administration and a zero may be issued.
