General Summary of the Unit:
This cyber security unit provides students with a foundational understanding of key concepts and practices in the field. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to protect personal and organizational data, this unit covers a range of topics essential for understanding and managing cyber threats. The topics include Common Cyber Threats and Attacks, Basic Cybersecurity Measures, Network Security, cyber security Ethics, and Legal Considerations.
Skills Students Need or will Develop:
to understand fundamental cybersecurity concepts and terminology.
to identify common types of cyber threats and attacks.
to implement basic cybersecurity measures to protect personal and organizational data.
to recognize the importance of ethical behavior and legal considerations in cybersecurity.
to apply critical thinking skills to analyze and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
Goals For a Final Project:
By the end of the unit, students will have a foundational understanding of cyber security and be able to apply their knowledge and skills by designing and implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity plan for a fictional organization.

Driving Question: How will cyber security affect you in 5 years?
Assign each student a digital copy. (The group leader will share with their group)
Students will complete Task 1 & 2 today. Predict how they think cyber-security will affect them in 5 years and list what they know at the end of the day.
Discussion Questions
1) What is the WannaCry ransomware attack?
2) According to this video, how do we protect ourselves from attacks like WannaCry?
Write your answers to the following questions:
1) What is the motivation for creating an “Internet of Things” by embedding computing devices in everyday objects? How do we benefit from this increased interconnectivity?
2) What are the risks associated with this kind of connectivity? How does the issue of cybersecurity relate to the Internet of Things?
As you watch this video, consider the following questions:
