Linking Youth to New Experiences
All students at Frederick High have access to the four features of LYNX , advocacy, partnerships, flexible schedules, and innovative learning.
As the Work Based Learning Coordinator at Frederick it is very exciting to work with our business and community partners in Frederick County. A partnership with LYNX students allows Frederick businesses and organizations to cultivate and influence their future workforce and gives our students opportunities to learn about career choices and pathways outside of the traditional classroom.
Preparing for the future
LYNX business partners prepare our seniors for real job interviews, by conducting Mock Interviews and resume critiques one-on-one with students twice during the school year.
Several students even landed job offers during the November interviews!
Interview Tips
Whether you are applying for an internship, a job, or a new volunteer position, you should be prepared to answer some basic interview questions. Connecting to our community
LYNX students perform volunteer service during The Day of Action, volunteering through our LYNX partner The United Way of Frederick County and serving Frederick County Parks and Recreation.
Connecting to the community through volunteerism is a topic that business partners speak with LYNX students about particularly during their Sophomore year mentoring sessions.
Learning from our partners
Professionals from AstraZeneca have been trailblazers working with FHS staff and LYNX students to plan a continuum of experiences and mentorship programs .
LYNX experiences at our partners' places of business give students hands-on opportunities to learn about careers, internships, and work placements available to them now and in the future.
