Some teachers need something translated to Spanish to support student understanding - can we clarify what that is? As Teachers, we want to try to expose students to as much English as possible, but sometimes it can help if students can access an article in their home language to clarify their thinking or build background knowledge (this process of leveraging a student's home language is called translanguaging). If we agree that directions/documents need to be translated, please let me know what that is so we can ensure that an accurate translation is provided systemically. The EL Office has resources we could use if necessary!
Small groups/stations to have more time with students and for conferencing
Driver /Navigator with any Onshape work
Use guided notes to document any new utility tools that are introduced in Onshape i.e. list the tool, how is it applied
I have redone all of the instructions in a Google Doc so that students move through at a pace that can be reviewed at the end of each lesson
All Units should have an EL Folder that has been created, for you to copy the materials if needed.
Duplicate OnShape tab in chrome, have one set to instructions and one set to part studio. Switching back and forth is faster in chrome than in OnShape.
Good to alternate between hands-on units and Onshape units. They do tire of consecutive Onshape units.
Hints From Fellow Teachers:
Focus on Progress not perfection
Highlight the growth of each unit
Pace of mastery looks different for each student.
Do not get hung up on the little details.
Group students together based on progress and assess differently.
