We believe providing support and interventions for students is an important step to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically and personally. These can look different depending on the individual needs of the students. Our supports and interventions aim to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. By recognizing and addressing individual needs, we aim to help students overcome challenges and thrive academically and personally.
Below, you will find some ways to receive support both during and after school hours. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your counselor or administrator for help!
Your school counselors are here to help. If your counselor is unable to see you when you come in the office, see the counseling secretary who will schedule a time for you to come back. Students will receive an appointment pass when the appointment has been scheduled. Parents/guardians may want to talk with teachers and/or counselors about grades, adjustment problems, course requirements, or other things. Parents/guardians may elect in writing to have their child not participate (to “opt-out” of) academic, career, or personal/social counseling of a generic nature at any time.
Counselors are available to help students:
● Problem solve. Sometimes just talking to someone helps make situations clearer.
● Discuss feelings and needs: Eensures students’ decisions are based on their values.
● Explore options: Every problem has more than one solution.
● Reach decisions: Students can learn skills for making future decisions on their own!
Counselors use the following to implement the school counseling program:
● Individual and small group counseling
● Consultation with parent/guardian teachers, and other educators
● Peer mediation of conflict management
● Classroom counseling lessons
● Referrals to other services both in and out of school
