Evacuation/Safety drills at regular intervals are required by law and are an important safety precaution. The types of drills your child will participate in include: fire, lockdown, weather, and earthquake drills. During these drills, or in the event of a real event, students must quickly and quietly evacuate the building or move to a designated location in the school under the supervision of a teacher. In the event of an actual emergency (non-drill), the parent/guardian will be notified through the FCCPS alert system, and more information will be given at that time.

Under adverse weather conditions or other emergencies, Falls Church City Public Schools may open late, close early or remain closed the entire day. In the event of severe weather or other emergencies, school delay or closing information is made available to the public via social media, television, radio stations, www.fccps.org, mass email, and text alerts.
Regular School Day Hours: 8:30 am – 3:10 pm
After School Hours: 3:10 pm - 4:45 pm (Monday - Thursday)
If students are being dropped off late or picked up early, please stop at the security desk in the entrance area, and you will be directed from there to the attendance secretary. If students must leave early for an excused appointment, a parent/guardian must sign them out. If possible, please pre-arrange early dismissals by emailing and/or calling the attendance line in the morning. This will assist us with a quick dismissal and locating your child. All visitors to Henderson are required to sign in. Please stop by the security desk to sign in. Student visitors must be pre-approved by the school administration.
No student will be allowed to leave school during the school day without being picked up by a parent/guardian or designee (i.e. they cannot walk or bike home).
All students will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. and should report immediately to the bus or their assigned destination. Students who are riding the late bus should sign in with the activity sponsor and indicate how they will be getting home. Students riding the late bus must be involved with a school-sponsored activity and are not allowed to leave school property and return to ride the bus.
Students are not permitted to be on campus unsupervised past 3:10 p.m. All students on campus must be under the guidance/supervision of a teacher/staff member, club supervisor, or athletic coach. Staff will conduct floor sweeps in order to ensure students are accounted for between the hours of 3:10 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
After 4:45 p.m. supervision by administrators is NOT provided.
