Welcome to Native Spanish 1st period!

We will be working out of several different books of short stories, with the goal of improving your ability to both read and write in Spanish. At the end of high school there is a special award, called a Seal of Biliteracy, that is something given to students who show excellence in reading, writing and speaking another language besides English. This seal is something that can be put on transcripts and mentioned in college applications and it's one more way to make you stand out as an applicant, which will increase your chances of being accepted at the college you apply to. My goal is to get you started on that journey, so that in high school you can proceed towards earning that Seal of Biliteracy. Expect to work hard. Expect that I will correct you. Expect that the Spanish you speak at home will be different from the way I instruct you to write and speak in class. Different is not wrong. You already know that you don't talk to everyone using the same language or style, and this is just more of that. We will help each other, correct each other and celebrate each other's successes.
