Requirements to earn the ISA Diploma:
DLI students must meet ALL the following requirements in order to earn the ISA diploma and participate in the ISA graduation ceremony at the end of their Senior year:
DLI students must earn enough credit to stay on grade level by the end of every school year.
DLI students cannot fail the same course more than once.
Regardless of which DLI Spanish course the student started with, every DLI student must take and pass AP Spanish Language during one of their high school years.
Graduating DLI students must earn a passing grade in any of the required courses that are part of either DLI high school pathways (including any AP Spanish courses and any Spanish dual credit classes).
Earn a qualifying score of a 3 or higher in the AP Spanish Language or AP Spanish Literature exam or earn the Seal of Biliteracy *1
To earn the ISA diploma, every graduate must complete 40 volunteer hours (an average of 10 per year- see guidelines below) in activities that require the use of the Spanish language throughout their four years of high school. Students who are not on pace to complete their volunteer hours risk losing eligibility for the ISA diploma:
By the end of 10th grade (May 31st), students must have completed at least 10 hours.
By the end of 11th grade (May 31st), students must have completed at least 15 hours.
Students who do not meet these benchmarks by the specified deadlines will no longer qualify for the ISA diploma.
Graduating DLI students MUST be enrolled in a DLI class every year in high school.
If a student does not meet any of the requirements mentioned above, students will not earn the ISA diploma and will not participate in the ISA graduation ceremonies.
*1 if the student did not take the AP Spanish Lang exam or scored less than a 3, or does not qualifies for the Seal of Biliteracy, students can show proficiency during their senior year by taking the STAMP test and scoring the following in 3 out of 4 categories:Â
Interpersonal Speaking/Listening Advanced Low
Interpretive Listening Advanced Low
Interpretive Reading Advanced Low
Presentational Writing Advanced Low
