Once you take a language at advanced level, you gain a life skill that will be with you always for both professional and personal purposes. Competent language skills are highly valued throughout all sectors of the employment market. On a global basis, Spanish is as widely-spoken as English. Spanish can be combined with many other subjects as a degree course, giving you flexibility and variety.

The influence of the past on present-day Hispanic communities. Throughout their studies, they learn the language in the context of Hispanic countries and issues and influences, which have shaped them.

Advanced level Spanish is extremely flexible and can be studied for either one or two years.
At the end of Lower Sixth, students can choose between the following:
not to take an external exam and simply continue straight to A Level
sit the AS examination and then continue to A Level
sit the AS examination and leave the course having gained an AS qualification
Spanish cinema is highly regarded and fascinatingly different and our course includes films by world- renowned director, Pedro Almodóvar.
Spanish has a very rich world-wide literature. You will be able to choose popular writers such as Carlos Ruiz Zafón or Laura Esquivel.
The A Level will be assessed by means of 3 exam papers:
Paper 1: Listening, reading and writing - 50% of A Level
Paper 2: Writing -20% of A Level
Paper 3: Speaking - 30% of A Level
There is the possibility to do AS Spanish only. It will be assessed in a similar way to the A Level but with fewer requirements and you will only study one film.
The Exam Board is AQA.
