Latin & Classical Civilisation
The fascinating social background of Roman Egypt will be studied, followed by a look at Roman Bath, a different part of Roman Britain from Year 8. Students will also work on a historical project of their choice. There are three lessons a week, one of which will be for Classical Civilisation and the other two for Latin.
In their study of Latin previously, students will have attained a good understanding of how to translate accurately, and so in this year they will develop their ability to translate Latin into English in some more complex sentences associated with GCSE level. Vocabulary will continue to be learned for efficient translation and also to recognise derivations of words which connect with English, MFL, and Science and Technology. As an option in Year 9, you will have five lessons a fortnight on this subject.
