Latin

In their study of Latin previously, pupils will have attained a good understanding of sentence structure, and so in this year they will develop their ability to translate Latin into English accurately in longer sentences. The study of the last days and destruction of Pompeii will be followed by a look at social life in Roman Sussex in Britain and in Alexandria in Egypt. Vocabulary will continue to be learned in order to translate more efficiently and also to recognise derivations of words in other languages. The number of Latin lessons now increases to three per week and is taught  in conjunction with either French or Spanish.
