Introduction

As pupils begins their Year 8 studies, they are now ready to broaden their learning and build on their accomplishments in Year 7.

Besides fun, friendship and enrichment activities, we really want them to enjoy our curriculum, because, after all, each pupil is here to make the best academic progress they can.

This site gives you an outline of the various topics pupils will be exploring in each subject this academic year and we hope that you will find this informative and interesting. (Please note that the order in which components are taught may vary and we reserve the right to amend and substitute topics should this become advantageous.)

Our academic staff care deeply about teaching and learning and strive to give engaging lessons that will allow their pupils to succeed to the best of their ability. We all hope that every pupil will find something to interest and motivate them in every subject, not just their favourite ones!

All subjects within our four Faculties are formally tested in the Summer Examination, which is the week after the May half-term. Other assessments will take place at strategic points throughout the year but will vary per subject.

If you have any questions about course content or progress with regard to a specific subject, then you are encouraged to contact the member of staff who is responsible for that area of the curriculum, as he or she is undoubtedly the expert. Their name and email address is included at the bottom of each page.

Should you wish to discuss academic progress more generally, then please contact me or Alan Maude (Head of Assessment & Reporting) Our email addresses are dws@farlingtonschool.com and alm@farlingtonschool.com. You are also welcome to telephone but do bear in mind that we may well be teaching; however, if you leave a voicemail message, we promise to return your call at the earliest opportunity.
