Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team (7-6, 1-0 CC) looks forward to matches against Gettysburg (13-1, 1-0 CC) and Cabrini (7-7) this week. The Diplomats travel to face the Bullets in a Centennial Conference match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. F&M returns to Mayser Center for a non-conference game against Cabrini on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Last Week

The Diplomats won three of their four matches played last week. The first of four matches came against Elizabethtown, where the Diplomats won a five-set battle against the Blue Jays. The fifth set was tied three different times early on. Three consecutive kills from Gianna Mangiamele, Annmarie Early, and Coco Shultz helped the Diplomats gain an edge and pull away from Etown in the set. Sydney Levins and Shultz shared the game-high in kills with 16 each. Read the recap here.

Franklin & Marshall competed in the Electric City Invitational Friday afternoon. Scranton swept the Diplomats in the first match, but F&M bounced back with a 3-0 victory against RIT. Levins tallied 17 kills for the day. Hannah McCarthy recorded 32 assists total in the doubleheader. Franklin & Marshall had a day-best .500 hitting percentage in the second set against RIT. F&M swept Ursinus Saturday afternoon for its first CC win of the season. The Diplomats limited the Bears to hitting percentages of .200, .160, .080 in each set. Meredith Mangum tallied 13 digs in the match. Gianna Mangiamele had a team-high eight kills in the win. The Diplomats posted a .474 hitting percentage in the second set to help sweep Ursinus. Last Time

F&M faced Gettysburg twice during the 2021 season. The Diplomats won the first match, which was a five-set battle between the teams. Carly Bozzo '21 had a huge night with 41 digs and six services aces. Allison Franke '21 recorded 13 kills and 12 digs to finish with a double-double. Hannah McCarthy dealt 36 assists in the win. Later in the 2021 season, the Diplomats and the Bullets squared off in the first round of the CC tournament. In the match, Allison Franke '21 reached the 1,000 career points milestone. However, Gettysburg swept F&M to advance to the CC semi-finals. Read the recap here.

F&M also faced Cabrini during the 2021 campaign. The Diplomats swept the Cavaliers 3-0 to cap a six-match winning streak. Hannah McCarthy tallied 32 assists in the match. The Diplomats recorded 10 total block assists as a team in the win. Franklin and Marshall never had a hitting percentage less than .300 during the match, as the Diplomats posted percentages of .333, .303, and .342 in each set. Read the recap here.

Gettysburg Team Preview

The Bullets are 13-1 overall so far in the 2022 campaign, with their only loss coming in a five-set battle against Southern Virginia. Gettysburg won its first CC match of the fall last week against Bryn Mawr, 3-1. Kylie Ulrich holds a team-high 149 kills and a hitting percentage of . 234. On the defensive side, Mary Huegel is ranked first in the conference in total blocks with 51 total.

Cabrini Team Preview

Cabrini holds a 7-7 overall record coming into Friday's match against F&M. The Cavaliers are 0-2 against CC opponents this season, dropping matches to Haverford 3-2, and Swarthmore 3-0. Hannah Dalton is ranked 18th in the nation for total kills with 197. Dalton also has a hitting percentage of .252. Gina Custer leads the Cavaliers in digs with 241 this year.
