Reminder:
Senator Gillibrand’s Service Academy Nomination application is now open. Interested students may apply for a nomination through Senator Gillibrand’s website at https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/. The deadline to apply and submit all materials in consideration for a nomination through our office is Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET.
Requirements for consideration:
Age: at least 17 years old, but not yet 23 (25 for Merchant Marine Academy) by July 1st of the year of admission
Citizenship: a U.S. citizen and permanent resident of New York State
Marital Status: unmarried, not pregnant, and no legal obligations to support children or other dependents
Answers to frequently asked questions about the nomination process are available on Senator Gillibrand’s website. Should you have questions not answered in the FAQ, please feel free to contact our Service Academy Nominations team at nominations@gillibrand.senate.gov.

West Point - Service Academy Day

This event will be hosted by the Pennsylvania Admissions Representatives of West Point, USNA, USAFA, USCGA, and USMMA. Representatives from each organization will be present at the event to answer any questions.
US Service Academy Nominations - Rep. Morelle
Congressman Morelle’s Service Academy Nomination Application is now available for students interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy. We would appreciate your assistance in sharing this information with eligible students who are considering a nomination to:
U.S. Coast Guard Academy (does not require a congressional nomination)
Key Points for Students:
The completed application (with an ink signature) must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, November 21st.
Supporting materials (transcripts, test scores, recommendation letters, etc.) can be submitted to our office via mail or email.
Students should also be applying directly to the academy/academies they wish to attend. Each academy has its own application, deadlines, and requirements—please remind them to track those carefully.
Interviews for qualified applicants will likely be held on a Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas; final details will be shared in the coming months.
We encourage students to seek nominations from multiple sources including: Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, and the Vice President.

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Marine Option Scholarship
The NROTC Marine Option allows those with a fighting spirit the opportunity to earn a commission in the United States Marine Corps as they complete their studies at a participating college or university. If they rise to the challenge, they may become officers of the Marine Corps.
Scholarship Benefits:
Full tuition at one of the listed colleges or universities (unless room and board is elected as the preferred scholarship benefit instead of tuition and fees).
All mandatory fees imposed by the School on all full-time undergraduate students.
Stipend for text books
Currently $750 per academic year ($375 per semester or $250 per quarter)
Provide uniforms and Naval Science textbooks
Three summer cruises
Subsistence allowance each academic month:
Freshmen - $250/month
Sophomore - $300/month
Junior - $350/month
Senior - $400/month
Application Requirements:
Be a U. S. Citizen.
Be 17 years of age by 1 September of the first year of college and younger than 27 on 31 December of the year in which college graduation and commissioning are anticipated
Be a current senior in High School (must be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent certificate to utilize the scholarship next year)
Be physically qualified and be within height-weight standards
Personally exemplify and display the following:
Character-Morally qualified and no record of military or civil offenses
A score of 74 on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT), a composite score of 22 on the American College Test (ACT) or a combined score of 1000 in Math and Evidence-Based Reading on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Meet admission requirements of an NROTC-affiliated college or university of choice
Service Obligation:
Marine Corps Option Scholarship Midshipmen will be required to serve at least four years on active duty.
Obligation is not incurred until beginning the second year of college.
