From the most recent clinic for NJMEA: "Beginning Jazz Improvisation Strategies You Can Use RIGHT NOW"

This learning environment was created for 5th-8th grade instrumentalists with little to no jazz improvisation experience.  It is likely suitable for older beginning improvisers as well.   The four critical design features of this learning environment are intended to support beginning improvisers' achievement, self-assessment, self-efficacy, and motivation:

1 - Form Jazz Combos

2 - Choose appropriate tunes/harmonic forms

3 - Reveal "hidden" jazz improvisation practices

4 - Promote specific feedback
