How Do I use the Question Feature for Instruction?

By adding a Question to Your Classwork Section of Google Classroom, students can leave you feedback in the format of a free response or Multiple Choice. The change of certain settings is essential with getting the quality responses from your students.

Steps:

  1. Teacher creates a Question to share with their students.

  2. Teacher instructs students to answer the question on the right hand side of the screen and submit their answer. This is different than students leaving a response under "Class Comments"

  3. Students answer the question in the "Your Answer" section of the screen.

  4. Students turn in their answers in the same screen they answer the question.

  5. Teacher is able to see who has and has not answered the question with a quick glance.

I would turn off "Students can reply to each other" if you are not seeking for this to turn into a collaboration technique.
