Hope Through History

7th Grade LA - Historical Fiction Unit
The United States has survived many difficult times in history. Each time, the strength, caring and resilience of people are what sustains and inspires hope. Historical Fiction authors put their heroes into these time periods for two reasons: to highlight a time period, but, more importantly, to highlight the extraordinary acts of normal people during difficult times. Learning about how other people survived challenging moments in history allows us to find hope in our own lives.
Nonfiction provides the facts in history.
Historical Fiction tells the stories. By adding fictional characters or events, authors can mold the nonfiction facts to create inspiring stories based in real events.
This website will provide both the context of the time period (nonfiction facts) and some fictional resources (fiction) you can read that highlight stories about people during that time period. People who struggled, but kept going. People who offered kindness and caring when the world did not. People whose strength carried others through the darkness.
These stories provide Hope though History.
