My strengths in this essay were my MLA skills, my introduction, and using other sources to help me reflect on reading the Great Gatsby. My weaknesses were: Developing a good conclusion, including the right text evidence from all of my sources, and giving context to my sources. I like this essay because it shows my ability to read and then find the deeper meaning, and it also shows my ability to back up my thinking with outside sources. I grew as a reader with this book because it challenged me to have to look hard for the books deeper meaning. 

My challenge in writing my Personal Narrative was telling a story throughout my essay and then wrapping up my essay with what I learned from my story. I liked this piece because it was the most personal piece I have written all year. I was really able to open up about a very personal experience to me. This piece made me grow as a thinker because I had to find the deeper meaning behind my story and how I grew from it, and how it made me the person I am today. I received assistance for this piece by using the feedback I got from Mrs.S from my first draft to make my final draft much better than it was. This piece is important to me because it´s a very personal piece of writing that I might use for my college essay in the fall. 

My weaknesses from this piece are: I didn't have enough time to polish this essay to add text evidence, and I didn't have a good enough conclusion to my essay. The challenge with this piece was trying to write a well developed essay in an 85 minute time period with an intro, conclusion, and text evidence in each paragraph. My strengths in this piece were: I demonstrated my thinking about the book, and I backed up my thinking with what I read. I struggled with this piece because I had to write a whole essay in one class period. This essay grew my thinking because I didn´t realize that if you don´t have a college degree you most likely sadly can´t make more than a minimum wage salary. This book made me grow as a reader because it challenged me to look deep into a huge issue in America. 

I choose this piece because It shows my reading comprehension skills by summarizing what I read independently. My weaknesses through this piece was I didn´t provide text evidence at all. I grew as a writer with this piece because I had to write what came to my memory from this book, instead of having to write a specific thing/type. Iḿ not used to doing free writing of my choice. Iḿ going to need to do free writing for my college essay so I have to get used to doing free writing. Next time I would have added a lot more detail, visuals, and text evidence.  

I choose this essay because it shows my ability to research across multiple different sources to gather information wich is one of my new strengths this year. This essay also shows my ability to cite my sources properly using MLA formatting. My weaknesses with this piece is making sure I don´t have an essay full of cited work. I like this essay because it shows my ability to research information about a topic across multiple sources, and write about my research. 

I choose this piece because it shows my ability to reflect on what I read to find the deeper meaning. My weakness in this piece was that I didn´t use text evidence in this piece. My strengths in this piece was the visuals I used and how I explained how this visual relates to my book. I like this piece because the visuals made this piece interesting and visually appealing. Next time I would have created one of my own visuals, and added a lot of text evidence.
