The story of this word is it started out in Rome, Italy because it originated in the Latin language. At first, it was the word “Penetrare” which then transferred into the words “Penetrabilis” which means able to be pierced. Also, the prefix “in” was added to the word which means not. These words combined together and made the Latin word “Impenetrabilis”. Throughout time, the Roman Empire conquered land all throughout Europe and spread Latin with it. They eventually conquered England and English is the main language there. In England, the word became penetrate instead of penetrables. When England had control of the USA they spread the English language to the USA and that’s how the word impenetrable got to America.
