prefix: aNTI-, means opposition
Root: Thesis-, setting down or to put

It was found in the greek version of the new testament, most likely written in Egypt. It came to France and England during the 1600s, evolving to become the word "antithesis" we know today. It was most likely created for the bible due to its nature of good and evil, and came over when translated to other languages. Shakespeare even used it in his own plays.
Older Form: AntiTithenai
