Having too many open tabs can drain resources and make your computer act glitchy sometimes. Closing open tabs that are no longer needed can enhance the performance of your machine.
Websites often store data on your device to make them work faster the next time you visit. Sometimes, the information stored becomes outdated due to an update, or the cache gets too full. It's a good idea to clear your cache from time to time - that will often eliminate an issue you are having. Each browser has a slightly different way to do this:
*suggestion - clear for "for all time" or "entire history". This will ensure you remove the glitch. NOTE: you may have to log back in to websites that you had saved your username/password for.
Many websites require you to accept cookies. Cookies are files created by websites that you go to that save browsing information to make your online experience easier. With cookies, sites can keep you signed in, remember your site preferences, and give you locally relevant content. There are 2 types of cookies:
First-party cookies are created by the site that you go to. The site is shown in the address bar. These cookies are usually ok to accept.
Third-party cookies are created by other sites. These sites own some of the content, like ads or images, that you find on the page. It's usually not a good idea to accept these cookies.

Make sure you are logged into the correct accounts (FCSD account- not a personal one) and correct wireless network. This often fixes the issue when you do not have access to something you should have access to.
Log out of everything completely - browsers, apps, websites, accounts, etc. Especially if you have logged in on a common or shared device. It is recommended to NEVER check "save password" or "keep me logged in" on a shared device.
Some websites required that pop-up blockers are turned off (or on) for things to open from their sites. Instructions to control pop-ups are slightly different for each browser.
Restarting a machine forces missed updates and solves a lot of glitches.
*Sometimes it might require a "HARD" restart- hold down your power button long enough for the machine to shut off. Wait a few seconds, then hold down the power button long enough to start back up.
Each building has a process for dealing with break/fix issues. Contact your teacher or building admin to find out what to do if your computer needs more help!
As teaching and learning become more digital, the challenge is to decrease the need for paper. Some files are easily edited, others (like pdfs and images) are not. The use of free pdf annotation tools eliminates the need for printers - allowing students to work directly on a digital file and save/submit their work through their digital classrooms (such as Google Classroom).
