Welcome back to fun new school year! Here is a quick update on our library renovations. The new flooring, paint, and furniture has been needing a little more time. We are hoping this project will wrap up by the end of first quarter so students can enjoy their new space! Thank you for your continual patience and support.
In the mean time, PreK-2nd Grade will still get to borrow physical books from our temporary mini library. PreK and K will enjoy storytime and crafts. 1st and 2nd Grade will get to explore iPad educational games. Grades 3-6 will learn how to access more than half a million eBooks, and will be focusing on digital citizenship and online safety this quarter. Library tech classes start on August 21, 2023.
Grades 4-6 will still get to enjoy Digital Media Club! Online applications are available and will begin in September. We will be working in the library. I am working on building a PK-12 video production studio in the classroom located across from the library.

Thank you for the extra donations from our teachers' wish lists. And lastly, we are so thankful to all of our amazing volunteers (see list below) for donating their time and energy towards helping everything run smoothly and bringing so much joy to our fair. Grades 3-6 had the joy and privilege of meeting talented author Stacy Bauer virtually on Monday, December 19, 2022.
Stacy Bauer wrote stories about modern day youth heroes during the pandemic and published her first book at the age of 39. She started writing when she was 7 years old, and she shared with students the process of publishing a book and inspired them to continue writing about what they are passionate about!
She went into great detail with the students about what the process was like to write a book and working with illustrators, editors, and book designers. She spent the last couple of minutes answering students' questions like what her next book will be, how to promote reading on social media, and what inspired her to become an author.
By the end of the session, there were still 20 hands raised with curious minds motivated to start their journeys as authors.
