My name is Monica Aguirre, I am the Pre- AP Biology teacher here at Fabens High School. I am also the 8th grade middle school Softball coach and 7th/8th grade Track Coach. I am a UTEP graduate. I got my Bachelors in Composite Science 8-12 on December 2010. My Master in curriculum and instruction in science on May 2015. I have been teaching Biology at Fabens for 6 years. I have been an educator for 13 years.

In Biology, students conduct laboratory and field investigations, use scientific practices during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. Students in Biology study a variety of topics that include: structures and functions of cells and viruses; growth and development of organisms; cells, tissues, and organs; nucleic acids and genetics; biological evolution; taxonomy; metabolism and energy transfers in living organisms; living systems; homeostasis; and ecosystems and the environment.

Student were learning about Viruses (HIV) how it infects, replicates, and diseases it can lead to.
Students participated in a HIV simulation called "patient zero", they all had a role they had to act out and see if their behavior exposed them further to catching "HIV" and at the end of the activity they had to work together to figure out who patient zero was.
