We believe that maths skills are a vital part of all learning, not just something to be taught in the mathematics classroom. Learners will be developing their numeracy skills across many different subjects and activities. Learners will develop their knowledge of mathematics through the following areas:
Number, money and measure
Shape, position and movement
Information handling
Our goal is to move beyond simply memorising facts and formulas. We want learners to develop a deep and confident understanding of how maths works. This is achieved through carefully planned activities and thoughtful questions that encourage them to think critically about the concepts they are learning. We will always encourage them to explain their thinking and reasoning, rather than just giving a final answer.
