Freshman Year

• Get involved! Begin to develop a list “brag sheet” that keeps track of all awards/honors you receive, sports, activities, clubs, programs, or community service you participate in. (add to this list all four years)

• Know the difference between graduation requirements and A-G requirements. Are you on the right track?

• What’s your 5-year plan? Have a general idea of whether you plan to attend a 4-year university, community college, or a trade/vocational school.

• Know yourself- your likes and dislikes. What kinds of career options interest you? 

• Get organized, practice good study habits, and focus on your grades! This year’s grades determine next years’ classes…Every year counts!

• Begin working on community service hours. Do not procrastinate. 40 hours are due in the middle of your senior year. 10 per year is a great idea to stay on track.

• Apply for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) if you are eligible.

• Utilize your account with and explore Californiacolleges.edu for information about careers and college plans.
