Double check you’re A-G requirements if you are planning to apply to 4 –Year universities. Make sure you’re not missing anything. Ask your counselor if you're not sure.
Make sure you are continuing to take challenging courses this year, do not “slack off” or develop “senioritis”. Colleges do want to see a strong finish in high school.
Visit colleges as much as you possibly can. It is important to give yourself a wide variety of exposure when selecting where you apply.
Take SAT/ACT exams to improve your scores. Most 4 year universities accept scores through December. It is ok to apply and later send in scores from a November or December exam. .......... (CLASS OF 2022 SENIORS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO TURN IN SAT/ACT TEST SCORES)
Attend Tulare County College Night again! This year you will have a more narrowed down focus and can ask very specific questions to the colleges you are considering.
Make sure you know the application deadlines for the schools to which you are applying! At EUHS, attend senior meetings, read the monthly college newsletters, see your counselor for specific questions regarding the application process.
Contact private and out of state colleges directly for their deadlines. They often follow various timelines and may have different requirements.
Begin to gather financial records in preparation for completing the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid)
Keep all college information organized! (suggested binder-one go to place for everything college)
Apply for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) if you are eligible.
October/November
The CSU application can be submitted between October 1 and November 30th. Be sure to launch your application from your California Colleges account!

If applying to private or out of state universities be sure to know the dates and deadlines for applications and other requirements. They can be very different from the CSU and UC systems. Use the “Common App” to apply.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be submitted beginning October 1st. The deadline to submit and be considered for Cal grant aid is March 2nd. Be sure to launch your application from your California Colleges account!
Use CCGI to submit your FAFSA and all College Applications
We will be giving away a MacBook and other prizes this December. In order for you to be eligible you must submit your FAFSA by Nov. 30th and through CCGI.

Jostens ordering begins. (Cap/gowns, grad announcements, senior apparel) Jostens will be here in September
Request any needed letters of recommendation using the “recommendation information sheet” (located in the counseling office or on the website) Give the recommender at least 2 weeks to complete the letter.
Make all attempts to visit the colleges you are applying to. If possible make appointments for tours with your family, financial aid and admission counselors.
Attend college fairs, financial aid workshops, college application workshops, and any informational meetings you can.
December/January
Take SAT/ACT a final time in December if you still want to improve your scores. Colleges will still accept December test scores after applications are submitted.
Continue to apply and watch for local/county scholarships listed on the website under SCHOLARSHIPS.
Submit official test scores to colleges through College board.
Most community colleges begin to accept applications during this time. Check websites for dates and deadlines to your specific campuses.
Notify the colleges of any changes that may affect admission after you have applied.
Fight “senioritis” 4 year colleges want to see a rigorous second term.

Keep copies and receipts of everything you submit to schools.
February/March
Apply for EXETER scholarships! (you will receive all information and instructions the first week in February)
Deadline for FAFSA is March 2nd to be considered for a CAL Grant.
If you are planning to attend COS in the fall, attend the COS counselor appointment meeting in February.
Register to take AP exams if enrolled in an AP class. Dates will be announced.
Many college acceptances are received this month.
Make sure you have applied to community colleges by the end of March. Don't forget to launch your application from your California Colleges account!
All EXETER scholarship applications will be due in March.
April/May
Community service hours are due APRIL 1st! This is a graduation requirement!
You most likely hear from colleges whether or not you are accepted by April 15.
Compare your acceptance letters and financial aid offers. Consider scholarships, grants and other aid that doesn’t not have to be paid back. Your SAR (Student Aid Report) should be sent to you.
You should decide by May 1st which college you will attend.
Sign your colleges financial aid award letters.
Housing expenses will be determined during these months and deposits will be due.
If possible, arrange a meeting with an admissions counselor and financial aid at your chosen college. It is very important to have all your questions answered during this process so that nothing gets overlooked.
Make sure you are staying on top of deadlines! Monitor your emails closely!
Make sure you sign up with Mrs. Gagnon to have your final transcripts sent to your college.
