Engineers Without Borders is an international non-for-profit organisation, who aspire to create positive change in the world through the lense of humanitarian engineering.
Our core belief is that all professionals should strive to use their knowledge and skills to make the world a better place, through sustainable development and human-centred design.
Our international projects involve providing humanitarian aid to assist communities in developing areas. We use our problem solving skills to create appropriate technology for these communities, with an appreciation for societal and cultural nuances of the different environments in which we work. We immerse ourselves in their culture to learn about and appreciate their way of life, and see how our knowledge and skills, as well as the existing knowledge and skills of the community, can help benefit people in a sustainable and socially aware manner.
We are a community-centric club and create a comfortable space for everyone to come together, make new friends and create lifelong memories. We aim to share and promote humanitarian engineering as a quality all engineers and professionals to strive towards.
We encourage all (not just engineers!) to join us, volunteer in our programs and help spread positive change! We have many ways you can get involved, including School Outreach, Maths Without Limits and Social Events.
Becoming a member of our club is easy! All you need to do is fill out link below. You must become a member before participating in EWB activities.

School Outreach is divided into three subprograms, with the goal to reach over 1000 students every year from both primary and secondary school. These programs are Metroneering, consisting of days of workshops presented in the metro area; Regioneering, our travelling roadshow; and the Innovation Challenge, a multi-day school camp hosted at the University of Melbourne.
As a School Outreach volunteer you would be part of a team, delivering fun, hands-on workshops to school students. These introduce them to concepts of engineering problem solving and appropriate technology, while encouraging them to pursue STEM pathways! Be sure to join SO to be a part of a great cause and help deliver exciting workshops.
Maths Without Limits provides students from regional and underrepresented high school students with free online support in their maths studies.
As a tutor, you are paired up with a high school student to help them be confident in their maths and learn the true value of maths in the world of Engineering. Not only are you a tutor, but a mentor too, providing them with insight into life at university and STEM careers.
Our tutors particularly excelled during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. We helped hundreds of students, totalling over 1000 hours of tutoring! Be sure to join MWL to be a part of a great cause with flexible volunteering hours.
Our events are an opportunity to make life long friends within the EWB community and include things like trivia and pub nights, BBQs and many more!
Our social events are a way to catch up with friends you might have met volunteering, or to meet some new like minded people and start getting involved in the club as a whole.
If you are new to the club, nEWBie night is the perfect place to start! Running in week 4 of semester 1, this is a night you don't want to miss! We can't wait to meet you at our next social event!
