Biotechnology is used to make medicines like insulin, grow more productive crops, develop vaccines and study everything from organ transplants to viruses. In the Biotechnology pathway you get to use what you learned in Biology and any engineering classes to conduct experiments and solve problems that people are dealing with now. Once you have completed either Biotechnology 1 or STEM Honors Biology you can move onto Advanced Biotechnology. You can learn how to use the latest lab equipment, design experiments that will help sequence DNA and even make bacteria glow. Skills learned here will help you whether you decide to continue your education right after high school or opt to go directly to work at a lab or Biotech company.
