In the SEED Pathway of the STEM Academy, we use curriculum from Project Lead the Way. This is a non-profit organization that provides high quality curriculum and teacher training.
All SEED students take:
Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) - Freshman Year
Principles of Engineering (POE) - Sophomore Year
After the sophomore year, students pick an Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Biotechnology concentration.
Engineering Design and Development (EDD) - Senior Year
Students interested in design and engineering can choose the Engineering concentration. This opportunity allows students to explore more in-depth curriculum in engineering as well as work on various design projects.
Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA) - Junior Year
Students interested in programming and computer science can select the Computer Science concentration. This opportunity allows students to dig deeper into coding and logic.
Students interested computer science can opt for a concentration in Cybersecurity. This evolving field will give students cutting edge skills to move into the world of internet security.
Students interested in continuing their education in biotechnology can opt for this concentration. These courses allow students to expand on their lab skills while also solving critical world problems in a state of the art lab.
Project Lead The Way provides transformative learning experiences for PreK-12 students and teachers across the U.S. PLTW creates an engaging, hands-on classroom environment and empower students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive. PLTW also provides teachers with the training, resources, and support they need to engage students in real-world learning.*
PLTW pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science engage students in hands-on activities, projects, and problems; empower them to solve real-world challenges; and inspire them to reimagine how they see themselves.*
