Over 1 million plastic bottles are purchased every minute and nearly 80% of these end up in landfills and oceans. At this rate, plastic will outweigh fish in the ocean by 2050, unless we make a change.

2. Helping travelers re-fill personal bottles that they bring from home (and eliminate the need to buy single-use plastic bottles).

3. Selecting new suppliers (hotels & restaurants) that try to reduce plastic.

4. Training guides how to reduce plastic trash, and dispose of it correctly.

5. In nature, guides collecting plastic on trails & beaches and carrying trash-clean-up kits.

6. Asking current suppliers to stop using single-use plastic.

7. Creating one itinerary that is 100% plastic-free (no single-use plastic).

"Plastic-Free" tips for Agencies

Teach your Travelers

tell them if the tap water is safe to drink.
remind them (if true) that asking for tap water in restaurants is acceptable (and cheaper!).
suggest they bring a re-usable bottle from home & a water-treatment kit (if needed).
tell them how to find bottle refill stations across your destination.

Train your Guides & Drivers

guides should know how to reduce trash produced during the trip ... and what to do with it.
guides should use refillable bottles themselves.
guides should help travelers refill their personal water bottles:

→ know where travellers can access clean "refill stations"
→ carry water-treatment kits
→ carry water in bigger containers (5 liters)

guides should organise plastic-free lunches & picnics.
your agency should provide trash bags in the cars the traveller is driving in
in nature, guides should carry trash-clean-up kits to collect plastic on the trail / beach. (this simple action makes guides look more professional; guests are always impressed)

Inspire your Suppliers

be proud to support plastic-free hotels & cafes; tell your travellers about this as one of your USPs!
talk to hotels & cafes about how to save money by reducing single-use plastics.
encourage suppliers to become refill stations (they might get more customers too).

Teach travelers to think about plastic pollution.
