When are the ETHS Dance Company (EDC) auditions for the upcoming school year?
Auditions happen every spring, usually in April. We host an audition meeting at the start of the month and a 3-day clinic/audition toward the end of the month each year. The group selected in April will be the new ensemble for the upcoming school year.
If you are a returning member, do you have to audition annually for EDC?
Yes. If you are interested in the ETHS Dance Company, you must audition every year, regardless of whether you have been a member.
What grades are involved in the ETHS Dance Company (EDC)?
ETHS Dance Company includes Freshmen to Senior dancers.
How many people are usually selected to be in the EDC?
This varies year after year and can range from 22 to 38 dancers.
How much does it cost to be involved in the ETHS Dance Company?
We try our best to keep expenses away from our EDC families and dancers. Anything that dancers individually purchase is theirs to keep. This includes their spirit wear package (shirt, shorts, pant, hoodie, etc), individual accessories and dance shoes, and a main show shirt. As a group, we fundraise and host multiple workshops to help offset group costs (costuming, workshop fees, transportation, and guest artist fees).
Can I be involved in a fall, winter, or spring sport while involved in ETHS Dance Company?
Many people can participate both in a fall and/or spring sport and remain active members in EDC. Winter sports have a direct conflict with EDC and students cannot participate in both.
Is ETHS Dance Company a class or extra-curricular activity at ETHS?
ETHS Dance Company is an extra-curricular activity at ETHS. Dancers who are involved in the company are highly encouraged to take Elite Dance Training as a Sophomore to Senior dancer. As a Sophomore, dancers are to enroll in Elite Dance Training their first semester and take Wellness their second (or over the summer). Juniors and Seniors are to enroll in both sections, both semesters. Freshmen dancers are expected to take Freshman PE their first year at ETHS.
