Prepare for your audition TODAY

1. Warm-up and work  on overall flexibility

2. Learn Choreography (movement pickup is essential for a fast-paced audition)

3. Perform (work on execution of technique and be expressive)

4. Practice skills that may be introduced in the audition

5. Try to incorporate dance skills that will set you apart from others, especially in your individual choreography.

• Double + Pirouette

• Inversion (anything upside down with or without hands)

  • Level 1: Forward roll + variations (from standing, lying down, on knees, etc)

  • Level 2: Cartwheel + variations (hands, 1 handed, elbows, assisted, etc)

  • Level 3: Handstand + variations (different leg positions and holds)

• Leap, Center Leap, or Switch Arabesque

• Back Attitude Pirouette

• Battement or Leg Hold

Other skills to consider incorporating in your choreography:

• Kip up

• Quick and controlled footwork

• Illusion

• Aerial, Front walkover, back walkover, etc

• Fouette turn

• Leg hold turn

• Balances that demonstrate strength and control (arabesque, penche, leg extension without the use of arm or hands, etc)

• Toe Rise
