Community Service Club (CSC) is one of ETHS' largest student-run organizations. With over three hundred members annually, CSC is run by its student leaders/organizers, who plan monthly activities for club members and other students in the school and around the community. Each month, committees partner with community organizations to plan activities that address a range of issues related to civic engagement, hunger, poverty, income disparity, international development, health, student welfare, tutoring, and much more, while bringing students together in an exciting way!
Meetings: We meet once a month during lunch blocks to announce upcoming activities. These meetings are a great chance to meet new people, learn more about service, and get first dibs on service sign ups. Plus there's pizza! Scroll down for a list of meeting dates for this year.
Service Activities: Our service activities are planned by student leaders and take place before, during, and after school as well as on weekend. We do over 150 activities each year so there's plenty of opportunities to get involved!
Expectations: To be considered an active member of Community Service Club, we ask students to attend each monthly meeting and at least one service activity per month. That said, students are welcome to join at any point in the year and can be more or less active based on their schedule. All are welcome!
Leadership: All active members of Community Service Club are welcome to apply to help lead a committee. Applications are released the first week of school each fall!

Students must pre-register for each service activity using the SignUpGenius. This ensures we have space for everyone and allows us to communicate all details ahead of time.
If you signed up for an activity but can no longer attend, please sign down from the activity and email Erin (claeyse@eths202.org) and Amissa (pagesamuelsa@eths202.org) so that someone can take your place.
Community Service Club is made up of six different committees that focus on different issues in our community.
The climate action committee strives to achieve environmental education, action, and justice within ETHS and the broader Evanston community, stressing the intersectionality of climate activism. We collaborate with local organizations at garden workdays and invasive plant removals, as well as supporting campaigns to make Evanston a greener place to live.
Aims to promote and support the sustainable consumption and production of clothing. We organize the Thrift Shop at ETHS, maintain the Closet for students in need and work with ESCCA to help children find clothing, as well as providing access and information about reusable clothing through posters and upcycling workshops.
Works to address hunger in the community, finding the root of it, informing people about it, and alleviating its effects. We do monthly food distributions that include tabling at Valli, sorting food for students at ETHS, and distributing food to the broader Evanston community. We also make bagged lunches and do food drives to stock the ETHS food pantry.
Our events focus on health-related issues in our community, raising awareness for these causes, and creating sustainable events that will continue to benefit our partners. Some events we do include Gold Out for Pediatric Cancer, Pink Out for Breast Cancer, Red Out for heart health, and various awareness campaigns.
We strive to have a focus on mutual aid and to connect and partner with various community organizations and provide them with volunteers and resources. This may be through participating in a work day at a local diaper pantry, volunteering with a girl scout troop, or fundraising for a global cause.
The tutoring community strives to bridge the gap of education inequities within our community. We collaborate with local organizations to provide youth with educational opportunities and resources. This can be achieved through tutoring with local children, school supply drives, and peer outreach.
