Working Bibliography: Before you complete a final "Works Cited" page, you will develop a working bibliography. This will be a sheet of paper where you write type up each of your sources as you find them. If you use the correct format as you go, it will save you a lot of time later. You will write down the bibliographic information, and assign a temporary number to each source. You will use this number on your notecards so it is clear where you have gotten all of your information.
Note Card Form: Use the form below for your note cards. You will need 3x5 notecards that you set up like the model below. When you take notes, please use phrases, not sentences unless you are quoting directly. Be sure to take notes in your own words. You don't want to fail Senior Thesis because you "accidentally" plagiarized. You should gather at least 100 notecards for your focus area paper. If you do a good job on your notecards, writing the research paper will not be difficult. As you read through a source, write down important information that you think may be useful for your paper. Do not write down everything. Be sure to write only one or two pieces of information on each notecard. If you develop focused research questions, it will be much easier to decide what information is useful enough to go on your notecards.
