Grading Criteria
1. Is there a sophisticated and in-depth presentation of a topic related to your career interest?
2. Does the writer effectively synthesize information from at least 10 sources in order to give a full discussion of the topic?
3. Does the writer effectively combine his/her research on the focus area with general career information?
4. Does the writer use elements of the sources to defend and clarify interpretations?
5. Does the writer thoughtfully express his own opinion about the issues?
6. Does the writer use interesting and appropriate details and quotations to make his/her paper more interesting, to make arguments, and to show evidence of research?
7. Are graphics, databases, or spreadsheets integrated into the presentation to support the writing?
8. Do the slides add information to the summary (not just provide a summary)?
9. Does the presenter effectively use brief text on slides to complement more thorough spoken discussion?
10. Are ideas organized clearly (by section, by slide, in logical order, using transitions, etc.)?
11. Is there a strong thesis statement and introduction that clearly presents the focus of the presentation?
12. Is there a thoughtful conclusion that adds closure to the presentation?
13. Is grammar correct?
14. Is spelling correct?
15. Are quotation marks, underlining, and citation punctuation used correctly?
16. Does the speaker clearly discuss the content of the research paper and career information and supplement the information presented in the multimedia portion?
17. Does the speaker vary his/her intonation and pause effectively?
18. Does the speaker speak clearly and loudly?
19. Does the speaker present with confidence and interest?
20. Does the speaker use gestures and facial expressions effectively?
21. Does the content on the slides highlight the most important and interesting information?
22. Does the layout of the multimedia keep the audience’s attention?
23. Does the multimedia presentation effectively incorporate graphs and images?
24. Are the slides readable and informative?
