Preliminary topic (choose an academic topic related to a career that you're interested in) Brainstorming Ideas
Notecards (at least 100 notecards)
Detailed topic (Description of the topic with at least 4 major focus areas and some subcategories)
Sources: at least 7 sources
at least 7 articles found from reputable sources, use Academic Search Premiere or appropriate online sources
at least one interview
at least 2 books if we travel to UNR
UNR Library Trip: All seniors will travel to UNR to gather sources for their papers on September 15.
Bibliography: MLA format, Works Cited, at least 10 sources listed and cited in the actual paper or EasyBib
Outline (a formal outline showing the main areas of focus and subcategories and subsections)
Paper length: 7 - 10 pages: double spaced, Times Roman 12 pt., 1 inch margins
Students who would prefer to write a 13-15 page paper, my apply to me for that opportunity
Three drafts

Graphics and Charts (at least 3 appropriate graphics or charts to supplement your research paper)
Internal Citations (you must cite all specific information and quotations in your paper (generally at least one citation per paragraph) MLA format
Quotations (you must include at least 5 illuminating quotations in the paper)

Career Research
Research several careers you’re interested in and collect the following information for each: job description, education and training required, skills and experience necessary, typical day, job outlook, salary, etc.
Email and interview someone in the career field you're interested in (via Zoom) -- don't forget to record the interview
Prepare slides for your multi-media presentation based on your research and interview
Multimedia Presentation
Multimedia presentation and a formal speech
Content: Focus area from research paper, career information, and 2-4 year plan
Choose an aspect of your paper that will be educational and engaging to the audience and can be illuminated by interesting images, graphics, and video. Be sure to focus in and show the depth of your research rather than giving a superficial overview.
Career: description, education and training required, skills and experience necessary, typical day, job outlook, salary, etc.
Interview: Present part of your interview of a person in your field of interest
2 - 4 year plan
Presentation length: 10-15 minutes, 15-25 slides
Slides should add to what you're saying in your speech or clarify points you make in your speech--minimal text
Use photographs, video clips, diagrams, graphics, charts, tables, etc. to add to your speech (you must have at least one video clip and an image for each slide)
Include a bibliography at the end of your presentation
Give an engaging speech (see Grading Criteria for more details)
