Basic Needs Visual - Inclusive classrooms are supportive of all students, including those who are dual language learners and students with disabilities. Because of this, it's important that we offer ways for students with communication barriers to have their needs met. This visual was created based off of teacher input and is a reflection of common basic needs that students in preschool often seek support with.
Learning Center Adaptations - This resource was created in collaboration with a group of early learning teachers to consider ways for teachers to adapt learning centers to support students of all abilities. When considering adaptations, consider:
Differentiation - modify content, process, and/or product
Multisensory - visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile activities
Scaffolding - provide supports with the intent to fade over time
Repetition and Consistency - repeated practice and consistent routines
Positive Reinforcement - provide positive descriptive feedback (5:1 ratio)
Academic Learning Center Ideas for Math and Literacy - This document was created with a group of TK teachers to share ideas for academic learning centers. When offering academic blocks of time, we should embed things like: a variety of choices, play-based options, student choice for who and how long they stay at an activity, blocks of time that last for 15-25 minutes.
