Inclusive System Assessment Tools
Local District Preschool Inclusion Self-Assessment provides a framework for discussion to promote partnerships among schools and early care and education providers to promote the inclusion of young children with disabilities and their families in early childhood programs.
Benchmarks of Quality is a tool to evaluate and plan for improving the implementation of Pyramid Model throughout your program. The intention is to use this tool with your program leadership team and to utilize the "look, think, act" process.
Indicators and Elements of High Quality-Inclusion are four sets of indicators that were designed by a group of national partners to respond to the evolving needs of the early childhood education system. The Inclusion Indicators should be used as a capacity building tool rather than a performance checklist or assessment.
Resources to Support Inclusive Systems
Myths and Facts about Inclusionary Practices in Washington State - Early Childhood Special Education Addition. Special education has its fair share of myths and facts about inclusion for students with significant cognitive disabilities. This resource was developed to challenge those myths and highlight the facts of why inclusionary practices work for each and every student.
Making Sound Preschool LRE Decisions - This guidance document is organized by important actions within the IEP process and includes reference to the corresponding IDEA rules and regulations to each action. Within each action, a guiding principle is listed followed by additional guidance and resources. Most of the principles in this document are from ECTA Center's Key Principles and Key Practices Underlying the IEP Process.
UW Haring Center Demonstration Sites - The Demonstration Sites at UW Haring Center is funded by OSPI. We are part of the Inclusionary Practices Technical Assistance (IPTN) network. We provide opportunities for educators to observe inclusive practices in real school and district settings across the state. Both our Inclusionary Practices (IP) sites and Reducing Restraint and Eliminating Isolation (RREI) sites offer valuable learning experiences for school leaders who want to implement inclusive practices in their own schools and districts.
