Mauro Velhote

Early Childhood PE Teacher
Enthusiastic Physical Education teacher with decades of experience helping students to value physical activity, while contributing to the total growth and development of each child mainly through movement experiences. Mauro graduated from Gama Filho University in 1989 and then taught Physical Education at schools in the municipality of Miguel Pereira from 1990 to 2007. He went on to earn a postgraduate degree in education from PUC/RJ and attended a master's degree in school administration and management from Universidade Aberta de Lisboa. He taught for several years at Os Batutinhas and other schools in Rio de Janeiro before coming to work at Eleva school in 2018.
Mauro has a daughter and although balancing family and a career may be tough sometimes he believes that finding time for yourself and your health is very important, and a great example for family.
Ani Carolini
Elementary PE Teacher
Enthusiastic physical education (PE) teacher graduated from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and holding a postgraduate degree from Candido Mendes University, she has a long experience with Dance, ever since she graduated from Dalal Achar, dedicating everything she had learnt to coordinating a social project "Dançando para Educar" for an NGO in Vidigal for ten years. She believed improving movement awareness of those children would help them develop their understanding of the importance of exercising in order to maintain their health and to have fun along the way.

Iago Marques
Middle School PE Teacher
Iago is a passionate professional with a diverse sports background, spanning from his 10+ years of experience in capoeira, earning himself an instructor position, to his former experiences as Futsal and Society Soccer player, Assistant Coach and Head Coach.
Former Law student, he found in Physical Education a path to improve and impact directly the life of countless children, and this is his driving force. He also coordinated for 3 years the social project "Esporte Clube Riachuelo", whose goal was to provide opportunities in sports for lower income kids.
Iago has been working at Eleva School since 2021.

Marcelo Barros
Competitive Sports Teacher
Marcelo Barros is a Physical Education Teacher, graduated from the Centro Universitário da Cidade, in 2003. He works with Prof. Orlando Cani since 2001, with whom he specialized in the Bioginastic and Hatha Yoga method. Since 2004, he teaches Yoga classes to renowned gym networks in Rio de Janeiro, such as Proforma, Espaço Nirvana, and Deborah Colker Movement Center.
Sports practitioner, the student of the movement, and passionate about the profession, often participate in congresses and courses on the concept of fitness, well-being, and holistic practices.
His mission is to empower the Eleva Community with yoga-inspired exercises to promote lifetime wellness, develop body-mind awareness, and the ability to nurture one's own well-being.

Danielle Thomaz

Swimming Coach
Graduated in Physical Education from Universidade Estácio de Sá in 2021, Danielle recognizes the importance and effects of physical activity to students of all grades. She speaks advanced English after graduating from Cultura Inglesa in 2017.
As Danielle was a swimming athlete for many years, she knows that a healthy active lifestyle can be achieved by anyone. It all depends on having a teacher with knowledge, enthusiasm and patience to guide students.

Amanda Montibeller

Cheerleading Coach
Amanda Montibeller holds a degree in Dance from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a degree in Psychology, with postgraduate studies focused on her main purpose: educating and fostering personal growth through sport and dance. Throughout her career, she has developed a practice that integrates body, mind, and emotion, believing that movement is a powerful tool for human development. Her work goes beyond technical performance, aiming to strengthen each student’s self-esteem, autonomy, and interpersonal relationships.
Cheerleading came as a true gift in her journey within the school environment, bringing together core values that guide her educational approach: teamwork, strength, discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. More than a sport, Amanda sees cheerleading as a space for collective learning, where every participant plays an essential role in the growth of the group.

Ana Luiza Cirne

Volleyball Coach
Ana Luiza is our volleyball coach, holding a Bachelor's degree and currently completing her licensure in Physical Education at UFRJ. As a former volleyball athlete, she represented Flamengo in the Rio de Janeiro State Federation in 2013/14 and still plays in LIVERJ.
Currently, Ana Luiza coaches the U13-U16 boys' and girls' teams at Eleva Botafogo and assists with the U18 and U19 teams at Eleva Urca, with a Level 3 coaching certification from the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV). Her dream is to help kids achieve their dreams and meet their sports idols, just as she has had the opportunity through the sport.

João Lucas Oliveira

Football Coach
João Lucas is a former futsal athlete, with large experience in Capoeira, he brings the discipline and teamwork of competitive sports into his teaching and coaching philosophy. Currently, he serves as coach for the volleyball teams at Escola Eleva Urca (since 2024) and as an assistant volleyball coach for all the teams at Escola Eleva Botafogo.
Beyond the court, he is deeply involved in the academic study of sports, participating in a research group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he is getting his degree.
Passionate Physical Education teacher dedicated to using sport as a powerful tool for education and human development.

Italo Lima

Basketball Coach
Driven by a strong commitment to youth development and educational sport, developed within the Botafogo youth system through 10 years in the club’s academy, followed by two seasons as a professional athlete with Tijuca Tênis Clube.
Academic background includes studies at Colégio Santa Mônica and higher education at Estácio and IBMR. Professional experience includes work in Botafogo’s youth program as an assistant coach for the U14 and U15 teams for two and a half years.
Certified by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) in “Education Through Basketball in Schools” and trained in youth socio-emotional education, with current work focused on integrating technical training, psychological support, and holistic athlete development within school teams.

Marlon Dias

I am Marlon, a Physical Education graduate from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Sports Training at UFRJ.
Passionate about Football and Futsal, I have been coaching the school's Girls’ Football and Futsal teams since 2022 as part of the PE staff.
My mission is to use Football as a tool to reinforce the school's core values and as an educational agent, fostering the overall development of our students while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

Bruna Ferreira
Football Coach
Bruna holds a degree in Physical Education from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). She is passionate about her profession and views Physical Education as a tool to transform her students' lives, offering endless possibilities for movement and social experiences.
A former futsal and soccer athlete, Bruna is licensed by the Brazilian Futsal Confederation (CBFS Academy) and currently serves as the futsal coach for the male Under 13 and 15 teams at Escola Eleva. Additionally, Bruna is a strong advocate for women's futsal and actively promotes the sport.
