Descriptor: The ultimate goal of our adaptive dance program is to mainstream our dancers into a traditional dance class. The benefit to these classes is the low teacher to student ratio (2:4-8). Skills taught in these individual lessons and classes are the same as a typical dance class, but are tailored to each dancer's unique needs and abilities in order to provide the most successful learning environment. Descriptor: The week long camp, R&R Drum Corps, includes a combination of music instruction, improvisation, and group performances utilizing various types of hand drums.
Each participant will learn basic hand drum techniques, culturally diverse rhythmic styles, basic music fundamentals, and groups playing skills. Drumming experiences will have call-and-response and improvisational aspects, as well as, provide leadership opportunities for the group participants. Throughout the camp, the participants will learn how drumming can promote wellness, empathy, engagement, and resilience. The camp will conclude with a final performance. The day begins at our therapy center in Northfield, Ohio, transport the kids to the field trips, and return to the center at the end. Camp is purposefully kept small so each child will get direct instruction from the therapist. Space is limited to a max of 6 kids/week. Staff includes a licensed speech therapist & a camp assistant.

Descriptor: Our unique camp features the experience of two professionals – music therapy and speech therapy. This summer program is perfect for emerging communicators, using pictures, devices and verbal approximations in a non-threatening environment filled with music. Your child will sing, dance and play instruments while working on communication skills of requesting items, choosing from 2-3 items and participating in a music ensemble.
