What is the Goal?
The goal of Discovery Education Experience (DEX) is to enhance classroom instruction by providing schools with a comprehensive, standards-aligned digital platform that supplements core curriculum with engaging, real-world content and ready-to-use instructional tools. By combining a vast library of multimedia resources with lesson-building, assessment, and LMS integration capabilities, DEX supports blended learning, increases student engagement, and helps educators deliver high-quality, relevant instruction while reducing planning time. Through Region 7, districts also receive targeted professional learning and ongoing support to ensure effective implementation and maximize impact on student outcomes.
Impact Story
Classrooms that consistently use Discovery Education Experience (DEX) show clear gains in both engagement and academic performance. Research from Discovery Education indicates that in high-use settings in Texas, 73% of students met state assessment benchmarks compared to just 30% of students in low-use environments, highlighting the impact of regular access to high-quality, standards-aligned digital resources. With its combination of multimedia content, real-world connections, and ready-to-use instructional tools, DEX helps increase student curiosity, deepen understanding, and support stronger academic outcomes (source: Discovery Education Experience Impact Research — https://www.discoveryeducation.com/info/experience-impact/).
Quotes:
“I frequently use Discovery Education to support both social studies instruction and to supplement our reading curriculum. The platform offers a wide range of engaging videos, ready-to-assign lessons for reinforcement, and interactive games that keep students motivated. It works especially well during station rotations, allowing students to learn independently while staying on task. I also appreciate using it as a research tool, giving students the opportunity to explore topics of personal interest as a ‘can-do’ activity after completing their required work. Overall, it’s a versatile and valuable resource that enhances student engagement and learning.” Ross McCormick, Associate Teacher (Grade 3)
"Upon attending a Discovery Experience PD at Region 7, I was able to share some amazing information on Discovery Experience with our CTE coordinator, Ms. Gaw, and also several of the CTE teachers on our campus. We have also been able to share things for our structured learning coordinator in SPED as well as our EB students. It is such a versatile platform with a wealth of current information, I lean on pushing their site out as often as possible." Karla Karr, Librarian, Hallsville
“I have had a very positive experience using Discovery Education’s computer science curriculum in my classroom. The program pairs my lessons with engaging, hands-on assignments that reinforce student learning in a meaningful way. I especially appreciate how it supports students with helpful hints when they need guidance, while also grading their work based on completion. This combination makes it easier to track progress and ensures students stay motivated and supported throughout the learning process.”
Gage Sulc, Computer Science Teacher, Fruitvale High School

What is our goal?
The goal of implementing BrainPOP through Region 7 is to ensure every classroom has access to engaging, standards-aligned instruction that improves student understanding across all subject areas while supporting teachers with tools that are easy to implement and impactful. By combining BrainPOP’s interactive, multimedia content with Region 7’s professional learning, coaching, and ongoing support, the goal is not just adoption—but meaningful integration that increases student engagement, strengthens comprehension, and builds teacher capacity to deliver high-quality instruction every day.
Impact Story:
In Region 7 classrooms, one of the biggest challenges isn’t access to content—it’s engagement. BrainPOP addresses this by transforming how students experience learning.
BrainPOP is a K–12 instructional platform built around short, animated videos featuring characters like Tim and Moby, who break down complex topics into simple, student-friendly explanations. These brief, high-impact videos span science, math, ELA, social studies, and digital citizenship—helping students quickly build background knowledge and confidence.
But BrainPOP is more than just videos—it’s a complete instructional ecosystem.
Each topic functions as a “mini-lesson + quiz in a box”, combining:
Engaging animated instruction
Built-in, auto-graded assessments
Interactive activities like writing, concept mapping, and coding
Real-time data that helps teachers immediately gauge student understanding
Because of this design, BrainPOP becomes a tool teachers naturally rely on across all subjects and throughout the instructional day. Whether introducing a new concept, reinforcing learning in a station rotation, or providing a quick reteach, it fits seamlessly into classroom practice and quickly becomes part of the everyday teaching toolkit.
Quotes:
"I love brainpop! It's entertaining for the students so it keeps their attention. The information is accurate. You have the ability to assign them a quiz either easy or hard and can use that as a grade. It also has other activities that go with the video that you can do also. Great for science and social studies! They've also integrated the HMH curriculum we use also and it's sectioned by each module! " Thelma Williams - Timpson ISD
"I have used it throughout the year. I like it for an introduction to a unit or concept."
Jessica Mandy Midkiff - Timpson ISD
