What is our goal?
Districts participating in the AI Alliance will examine how they can leverage their district's mission and vision to develop an aligned AI policy that promotes practical and responsible AI integration for all stakeholders. Experts at the local, state, and national levels provide guidance to offer a broad perspective on emerging trends in how this transformative technology is used in schools, as well as the policies needed to create guardrails for safe and successful implementation. Quarterly meetings will address topics such as cybersecurity, AI literacy, responsible use policies, and classroom integration, providing districts with the knowledge, resources, and exemplars needed to build a strong and sustainable AI vision. Following each quarterly meeting, district-specific support opportunities put theory into practice as Region 7 specialists assist districts in tailoring policies to meet their needs.
Impact Story
During the 2025–2026 school year, the AI Alliance team had the privilege of guiding 16 districts through the process of developing AI policy. A key component of this work involved visiting districts and working hand in hand with teachers to hear their concerns, excitement, and questions about the role of AI in public education. We have found it especially important to begin policy development by grounding the work in a district’s mission and vision, ensuring that the adoption of AI tools naturally supports those guiding principles.
In Center ISD, one experienced teacher shared a powerful reflection during this process:
"I originally just wanted access to the tools, but now I see that there have to be systems in place to safeguard our students and our work so that the use of AI is productive. I see the bigger picture now." Since that conversation, the district has established an AI Policy Action Team composed of teachers and administrators who are leading the ongoing discussion on how AI can best support the district's needs.
Quotes from Participants
"I cannot speak highly enough of this alliance and the work that is being done. The workbook is an excellent resource, and I am thankful to participate." Anna Huntsinger, Longview ISD
"I am learning how to best use AI and what we should do to help build a best use policy for our district. This is very beneficial!" Courtney Jones, Overton ISD
"Always a great time with Cyndi and Carl! We really enjoyed thinking through the timeline of AI implementation. It was helpful to see different ways that other schools have structured the process. This also gave us time to talk about those whom we would want to help lead the rollout of our plan." Kaysie Woody, Elkhart ISD
