A paid supervised classroom teacher assignment for one full school year (180 days) at a public school accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or other school approved by the TEA for this purpose that may lead to completion of a standard certificate. An internship is successful when the field supervisor and supervising campus administrator recommend to the EPP that the candidate should be recommended for a standard certificate.
For initial certification in the classroom teacher certification class, each EPP shall also provide:
(C) internship for a minimum of one full school year for the classroom teacher assignment or assignments that match the certification category or categories for which the candidate is prepared by the EPP.
(i) An EPP may permit an internship of up to 30 school days less than the minimum if due to maternity leave, military leave, illness, or late hire date.
(ii) The beginning date for an internship is the first day of instruction with students in the school or district in which the internship takes place.
An educator who is employed by a school or district, and who teaches not less than an average of four (4) hours each day, in an academic instructional setting or career and technical setting.
Teacher must notify TOPP consultant within seven (7) days if there are changes to teaching assignment.
Change in content area or grade assignment
Internship must match the certification exam passed as accepted into TOPP

Leave of absence
Any teacher who takes leave or placed on leave must provide a work record to toppstaff@esc20.net at the end of the academic school year.
TOPP to verify total number of teaching days is not less than 150 in order to be recommended for standard certification.

Administrator Concerns Regarding Performance or Reprimand
Teachers informed they are not meeting performance expectations and/or below proficient performance OR if provided a reprimand on professionalism are required to inform their Educational Specialist as soon as possible.
Contact assigned Education Consultant ASAP.
Scan and email documentation to toppstaff@esc20.net or directly to specialist.
Consultant will meet with field supervisor to discuss plan of action for teacher.
Additional support will be provided to teacher.
Teacher is required to communicate via email with field supervisor and consultant on progress or to relay information from administration.
