Evaluating the quality of your early childhood programs helps ensure that our youngest learners are receiving the early learning experience necessary to support optimal development and learning in early childhood. The Early Childhood Education Division at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has developed the Early Childhood Program Self-Assessments for prekindergarten and kindergarten to help local education agencies (LEAs) in their continuous improvement efforts. This guide is aimed at supporting LEAs as they utilize the Early Childhood Program Self-Assessments for prekindergarten and kindergarten. Included in this guide are suggestions and resources for conducting a program self-assessment and corresponding resources to support quality improvement. The intended use of the Early Childhood Program Self-Assessment tools is to assist LEAs in evaluating their early childhood programs in order to make program adjustments to meet the needs of all students.
