- Match Procedure
1.1 Competition Format
Each team will compete in four (4) time trial leaderboards. Each member of the team will compete in only one (1) of the four (4) courses selected. The ranking from each leaderboard will give the team points to add to their team score. The final rankings will be based on the final team score.
1.2 Match Format
Match Format: Time Trial Leaderboard
Game Format: One (1) 150cc Time Trial Submission completed within a 10 minute block
1.3 Team Rosters
A "team" will consist of 4 players. Each player can only compete in one (1) of the four (4) competition tracks. Players must be enrolled in the campus they are representing and must be a 6th-12th grade student.
1.4 Substitutions
There will be no player substitutions in this competition.
1.5 Track Selection
At the beginning of the competition, four (4) courses will be randomly selected from the course list (see below). Teams will decide which player will compete in each of the courses.

Mushroom Cup - Mario Kart Stadium
Flower Cup - Toad Harbor
Star Cup - Mount Wario
Special Cup - Rainbow Road
Shell Cup - Toad's Turnpike
Banana Cup - DK Jungle
Leaf Cup - Yoshi Valley
Lightning Cup - Grumble Volcano
1.6 Match Set Up
Prior to starting their time trial run, players can connect their controllers and set up their time trial run using the following procedures:
Select "Single Player"
Select "Time Trials"
Choose your racer
Choose your car
Select the competition track
Set the engine class to 150cc
Wait for the facilitator to give the signal to start. Then select "Solo Race" to begin your attempt at the time trial.
1.7 Match Play
Once the facilitator gives the signal to start, players will have 10 minutes to complete the time trial. During this 10 minute blocks, players are able to:
Change racers
Change cars
Restart the race
Submit their time (only once)
1.8 Results Submission
A player can only submit a time once. They must decide when it is best to submit within the 10 minute block. When the player is ready to submit their time for the leaderboard, they must:
Leave the result on the screen
Call the facilitator to record the time
Verify the time the facilitator recorded by initialing a submission form
Failure to do any of these steps will result in a disqualification from that course's leaderboard, resulting in 0 points for the team.
Once a player has made a submission, they cannot make any more submissions. Results from previous runs may not be submitted.
If a player is still completing a race when the 10 minutes are over, they can complete the track but must submit their time for that current run. The player cannot reset the run after the 10 minutes have completed. If so, the player will be disqualified from that leaderboard, resulting in 0 points for the team.
1.9 Points Awarded
Once all teams have completed the course, the results will be sorted in a leaderboard. The points will be distributed as follows:
1st Place: 21 pts
2nd Place: 18 pts
3rd Place: 15 pts
4th Place: 12 pts
5th-6th Place: 10 pts
7th-8th Place: 9 pts
9th-10th Place: 8 pts
11th-12th Place: 7 pts
13th-14th Place: 6 pts
15th-16th Place: 5 pts
1.10 Final Rankings
Once all four courses have been completed by each team, teams will be placed in a final ranking based on the highest accumulated score. Awards will only be presented to the top 3 teams.
1.11 Tie Breakers
In an individual course, if two or more players receive the same time, they will each receive the same ranking and amount of points. The remaining players will continue to be placed in order without skipping any places and the associated points.
In the final team rankings, if there are any ties for 1st - 3rd place, a tie breaker will be used to determine the placement of the teams starting with all teams tied for 1st place. This will continue if needed for any 2nd place ties and 3rd place ties until a clear 1st-3rd rank is decided. The tie breaker method will be as follows:
Randomly selected course from remaining course list
One attempt, no restarts
Course leaderboard results will determine the ranking of the tied teams

The game settings for each time trial run will be as follows:
Game Mode: Time Trial
Engine Class: 150cc
Race Type: Solo Race
2.2 Character and Kart Selection
Any available character and kart can be selected for the time trial.
2.3 Restrictions
There are currently no restrictions for this title.

3.1 Code of Conduct
As participants in the scholastic esports community, we ask that players, coaches, advisors, and spectators uphold the values of sportsmanship, respect, and integrity. Behavior both in-game and outside of it reflects not only on yourself but on your school, district, and the broader scholastic esports community. Therefore, we ask that you commit to the following principles:
Sportsmanship: We will compete with honor and fairness, acknowledging the skill and dedication of our opponents. We will celebrate victories graciously and accept defeats with humility, understanding that both are opportunities for growth.
Respect: We will treat all competitors, coaches, facilitators, and organizers with respect and dignity, regardless of differences in skill level, background, or perspective. We will refrain from engaging in any form of harassment, discrimination, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
Integrity: We will abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the competition organizers, playing with honesty and transparency at all times. We will not engage in cheating, hacking, or any other form of unfair advantage-seeking behavior.
Positive Environment: We will strive to create a positive and inclusive environment for all participants, fostering camaraderie and mutual support. We will work together to uphold the spirit of teamwork and collaboration, both within our own teams and with others.
School/District Representation: We understand that as representatives of our schools, we carry a responsibility to uphold their values and reputation. We will conduct ourselves in a manner that reflects positively on our educational institutions and the scholastic esports community as a whole.
Any player, coach, or spectator deliberately acting against these principals may be removed from the competition to make the environment

All player names and gamer tags used in play are prohibited from including:
Gang Affiliation
Drugs (including alcohol and tobacco)
Sexual Material
Offensive Material
Politically Charged Symbols/Images
Please review all names/gamer tags prior to playing in the tournament. Any player with a name or gamer tag that is in violation of this rule will not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
3.3 Dress Code

Each team will be representing their school and district. We ask that players dress in school appropriate attire. Any player that is in violation of this rule will not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
3.4 Match Times (Tardiness)
In order to maintain our schedule, we ask that teams be at their next match on time. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated on the day of the tournament. We ask that teams be at their assigned station within 5 minutes of their announced match. Teams that are excessively tardy may forfeit their match.
3.5 Coaching
Coaches are allowed to provide feedback and advice during a player's time trial attempt, however, time will not be stopped for coaching. A coach can be in the competition area as long as the player is not actively playing the game. Otherwise, coaches must stay in the spectator area. Coaches may not be in possession of the game controller during competition. If providing technical support, the coach must first notify the facilitator prior to assisting the player.
3.6 Disputes
During the course of play, issues may arise. A designated facilitator will resolve issues with the best possible outcome and fairness in mind. All Region One ESC rulings on disputes are final.

4.2 Optional Equipment
Players are allowed to use their own controllers and cables for competition. Controllers must not be modified to provide any unfair advantage in competition. Players can use:
Nintendo Switch Joy-Con
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
Nintendo GameCube style Controller
Any Nintendo Switch compatible controller with no turbo mode availability
Region One will have a few controllers available but it is ultimately the team’s responsibility to bring their own. Region One will not be responsible for any connection issues or functionality of a player's personal equipment.
