FAQs
FAQs
- Does the event fee ($60 for Smash Bros./$80 for Mario Kart) per team or per student?
The event fee is per team. For Smash Bros., the $60 covers the team of 3 students. For Mario Kart, the $80 covers the team of 4 students.
- Can a student participate in both titles?
Since both titles will be run concurrently, students should only participate in one title. Participating in both can cause delays to the daily schedule.
- What if a student does not show up the day of the event?
The two titles are set as a team competition format. This means that a full team is needed to compete. It is recommended to have substitute players for the day of the competition in case someone is not able to compete. We do not pick up rosters prior to the event, so you can change your roster up to signing in the day of the event.
- Can we have substitutes?
It is recommended that teams have substitutes ready in case another student cannot make it the day of the competition. However, once the first match of the day starts, students cannot sub in and out.
- Can we bring additional students?
You are allowed to bring additional students to spectate. This would also be a great way to bring a sub or two as a team manager or spectator in case they need to step in for a student that is not able to attend. However, you would be responsible for their transportation and meals as well.
- Are spectators allowed?
Yes! Spectators are allowed, so please encourage your parents to attend. We will try our best to set up spaces with the ability to spectate, however it is not guaranteed except for the 3rd Place and Championship matches which will be shown on the projectors. Due to the nature of all the matches occurring at the same time, it may be difficult to have spectators watch a match without causing distractions or interference with the players.
- Will breakfast/lunch be provided?
Meals will NOT be provided at this event. Schools will be responsible for providing their own lunch for students. We will be trying to hold to a strict schedule and have at least an hour break for lunch. Students are also encouraged to bring their own snacks.
- What should students take to the event?
We encourage students to bring their own controller for their game. It is recommended that the controller be wired for easier pairing. We are not responsible for issues with pairing with a console. Controllers should not be modded or provide any unfair advantage to the player. We will have some Joy-Cons available but are not guaranteed. Students can also bring their own Nintendo Switch's for practice or entertainment as they wait for their next match.
