Identification is the first step in providing migrant students access to program services. The ID&R team works with school personnel and the community to identify and recruit migrant children. Key data related to migratory moves is then entered and maintained in the New Generation System (NGS), the web-based interstate information network.
NGS facilitates a smooth transition for migrant students during periods of mobility as student records may be accessed and utilized for enrollment and placement purposes by receiving districts and states. NGS can also help identify mobility trends to facilitate inter and intra state coordination.
Graduation enhancement entails the provision of services for migrant children and their families to encourage and support positive relationships that build a strong foundation as we prepare our children, PK -12, and successfully transition them to postsecondary education or a career.
Migrant Service Coordination provides guidance, organization and implemenaton of the program goals to ensure services are aimed at supporting the unique needs of migrant children to improve student academic performance outcomes.
