Online Training Sessions

This session will provide an overview of the expectations for the El Rancho Unified School District as we engage in Distance Learning for the launch of the 2020-2021 school year. Topics covered will include daily schedule, synchronous and asynchronous instruction, office hours and instructional platforms. This session will explore the differences in services, accommodations and modifications in the distance learning environment. We will discuss the use of paraprofessional supports, service delivery models, measuring student progress, remote assessment and complying with the student’s IEP.

This hands-on interactive session will allow participants to explore the essentials for the beginning of the school year. We will explore design principles and best practices to foster equity, build a positive learning community and promote student engagement with all students, specifically English Language learners (Emergent Bilinguals) in the online environment.

In this intermediate session, we will go step by step through the basics of Google Classroom. We'll address how to manage settings and effectively organize your digital classroom. We will review how to create and score assignments as well as how to communicate with parents via Google Classroom.

In this session, you will learn tools for teaching math synchronously and asynchronously. We will cover how to find, set up and implement Desmos activities as well as familiarize ourselves with creating content in Edpuzzle. With both applications, our focus will be teaching for conceptual understanding in the online environment as well as making the most of built-in assessment tools to give students timely and effective feedback.

In this session, we will walk through advanced features of Google classroom to assist with online engagement and connectivity. We’ll look at features such as connecting to Google Meet and your Google calendar, using google analytics & gradebook to track student progress, utilizing comment banks, adding extensions for easier & innovative usage, etc.....

Participants will discuss StudySync best practices geared towards the distance learning environment. The discussion will include optional instructional pathways, digital and print resources, and integration with Google Classroom.

In this session, APEX will provide an overview of the software platform and share resources for Social Studies teachers. Participants will have the opportunity to work with the platform and explore resources to support their instruction.

In this introductory-level session, we will go step by step through the basics of Google Classroom. We'll address the basics of logging in and connecting students to Google Classroom. We will also help you post your first announcement.

This beginner workshop for secondary teachers will help you navigate Google Classroom, create assignments and questions, grade assignments and return student work, communicate with your students with comments and email, provide tips for, collecting class attendance, create and organize topics, create digital meets.

This intermediate/advanced workshop will help you with importing grades to AERIES, inviting guardians and communicating via email through Classroom, pushing material and assignments from other sources to Classroom (Edpuzzle, Quizziz), customizing feedback: Comment bank, feedback options in Forms, and Lesson design tips in Classroom: Openers, providing instruction, following up.

In this PD session we will learn how to use the Animated Math Modules within Think Central to create synchronous lessons for grades K-2. We will also learn how to assign independent practice, assessments, and how to review test and assignment scores.

This workshop with provide tools and structures for supporting teachers as they navigate their next steps in designing learning plans. With the use of the CA Mathematics Framework, a graphic organizer and some guiding questions, as well as your districts guidance documents, we will navigate through the process of supporting teachers through these important next steps.

In this PD we’ll look at how to use tools such Nearpod and Peardeck with Google slides to design online lessons that increase student engagement while continuing to challenge our students and deliver much needed instruction. This session is relevant to all curriculums and all High School grade levels.

This "hands on" session will introduce you to ideas and tools for building engaging online lessons for middle and high school students. Examples will relate to math and science but the strategies introduced can apply to all subject areas. Tools include Google Questions, Quizzes, Edpuzzle, Padlet, Desmos, and Quizziz.

This one hour online professional development provides teachers and instructional support personnel with performance task resources in Math and Science that may be used during distance learning. Teachers will learn how these tasks are used formatively by applying the “Three Act Lesson” strategy. Guidance will be provided on how to scaffold performance tasks and facilitate learning through two 20 - minute distance learning sessions. In this PD we will use Google Slides to create an interactive slide that supports you and your students in staying organized, saving time, in a structured and engaging format to help students easily navigate various online learning programs. We will cover how to hyperlink text/images, insert audio/multimedia, and display this in two different templates.

Did you know that Desmos is not just a calculator? The Desmos team has created hundreds of interactive teaching activities that build math vocabulary and conceptual understanding. Learn to set up and manage tasks for topics including number sense, algebra, geometry and statistics; and discover visual approaches that will especially aid English Learners. This session will be of special interest to those teaching summer school and looking for ways to engage students, both asynchronously and in online meetings.
