Numerate student of the week award. (e.g, Student that is making strong numeracy connections in other disciplines or relating a thoughtful numeracy aha they had at home the night before).
Measure heights and student growth from September to June using a wall or doorway - Look for patterns and outliers. Celebrate average growth, no growth and the most growth!
Challenges/problems of the week - Students submit answers to the office for a Friday draw. All entries with the correct answers are left in the draw , they win a prize/get announced, etc. Possibly a different level of question based on grade division per week (Gr. 1/2, Gr. 3/4, Gr. 5/6, Gr 7-9, Gr 10-12)
Open ended problems posted in a common area so that any community member can answer. (e.g. Estimation 180, Which One Does Not Belong)
Bulletin board showing a graph that indicates progress for a school wide fundraiser or goal set for number of books read in the school, etc. (could be displayed as a graph, thermometer, picture that fills with color etc.)
Brainstorming of all the numeracy connections within the discipline- i.e. How would we conduct experiments without the use of our mathematical knowledge?
