Madeleine Hidalgo (8th Grade)
On June 3rd, Kakiat's 8th grade scholars arrived at Lincoln Harbor, New Jersey. We boarded the cruise and ate a delicious meal, with the options of Mac & Cheese, chicken with herbs, rice, tacos and more. After we ate, we got the option of staying below deck and enjoying ourselves on the dance floor or going to the top deck. Seeing the view of the New York skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the rest of the city.
New Water Fountains
By: Josiane Thomas
In 2016 the East Ramapo Central School District mandated a water test in all of its schools. After testing, the district found an unacceptable amount of lead in the water pipes. Elkay, a company that manufactures plumbing products, heard about the results and contacted district officials with an offer to donate 20 new Elkay ezH2O Filtered Bottle Flling Stations and a year’s worth of Elkay WaterSentry Replacement Filters.
Some of the benefits of these new water fountains are:
A Single Large-capacity Filter Cartridge: this means that all of the water is filtered, so we all have fresh drinking water.
Allows for a Strategic Installation Schedule: this means that the district was able to install them quickly and efficiently so that we had access to new water fountains in a timely manner.
Bottle Filling Station: this means that each water fountain comes with a bottle filling station where we are able to refill our reusable water bottles.
A message from our Interim Superintendent, Mr. Dicarlo:
“Our partnership with Zurn Elkay Water Solutions enables us to provide students with clean, safe water, a vital resource that supports both their well-being and academic success. Zurn Elkay’s commitment to the East Ramapo community is greatly valued as we prioritize the health and achievements of the students we serve.”
- Anthony DiCarlo, Interim Superintendent of Schools

Liberty Science Center
By Alexis Desroches and Neyda Nova
The 7th graders attended a field trip to Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey. Liberty Science Center is a place where you can have fun and interact with different exhibits while learning about science.
Seventh graders went to see the Titanic exhibit where they had a very fun and memorable time. My favorite part about the trip was the petting zoo because the cow was licking me, she was so cute!
Overall it was a very fun experience and I would definitely go again.
MARCHING BAND - ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
BY: JIANNA JOHNSON
The East Ramapo Marching had another big parade in March for St. Patrick's Day.
The World Famous East Ramapo Marching Band has been around since 1988.
On March 23rd 2025 the East Ramapo Marching band performed in Pearl River for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I performed in it as a symbol player and the experience was great! I liked how it was a clear road and nothing was in the way. It took a while to start…but it was a really good experience for a first time member in this Marching band.
I would recommend you to join the Marching band if you're in 5th grade or lower when you get into 6th grade! The coaches are amazing and very cool.
Thank you to Mr. Smith, Mr. Framhein, Ms. Trifiletti, Ms. Carbone, Mr. Springer, Mr. Cicalese
And to all the officers in the Band!
